Field Application Engineer

Overview

Our client is looking for an experienced Field Application Engineer (FAE). This person will support

the sales department in their technical and engineering communications and engagement

activities with existing and new accounts, and resolving issues that may arise, such as

reliability/quality, specification deviations, and overall requests for technical data. They will also

respond to existing and new account technical questions and issues and assist with debugging

and solving customer technical problems like thermals, EMI, efficiency, and basic functionality.


The successful candidate will support our client’s pre-sales and post-sales activities for the UPS

& DCFC (EV) product families in the USA.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer’s technical questions in time and record all issues accordingly.


  • Generate technical documents and failure analysis reports.


  • On-site support for key account customers.


  • Collaboration with other team members locally and worldwide.


  • Provide pre-sales & post-sales support to the sales force.


  • Work with engineering teams for NPI programs, facilitating technical communications, on-site testing and debugging.


  • Work with customers to identify new RFQ opportunities, to understand and communicate customers product roadmap to engineering teams.


  • Support to resolve field issues at customer sites, including first-level FA, FW and HW rework, etc.


  • Capture new design-wins.


  • Cross competitive products.


  • Prioritize opportunities according to dollar potential, technical requirements, relative difficulty, customer importance, ectara…


  • Identify future product and technology trends and report them to Marketing.


  • Visit customer and solve existing application issues and problems.


  • Coordinate and present latest product information to customers and staff in the assigned area.


  • Assist with translation of data sheets / web materials / promotional items where appropriate.


  • Write technical articles for the electronics industry publications and press releases.


Travel: 25% (as needed)

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering; MSEE preferred; NOT essential.


  •  5+ years power supply design (ACDC, DCAC or UPS) or power supply application engineering.


  • Experience with troubleshooting and working with power electronics systems, network connection, electrical vehicle charging and automotive electronics.


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.


  • Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery.


  • Bring to line of business the voice of customer and technical evaluation of customer to make offer roadmap more attractive and differentiating.
