Product Engineering Manager – Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)

Overview

The Product Development Manager reports to the Director of Engineering and is responsible for the design, development, and support of all new products, special products, product modifications and changes to standard products from concept to shipment. The successful candidate will work with theEngineering Project Manager to develop and maintain the workload and schedule of new product

development. They will work directly with the customers, and when necessary, visit the customers’ sites, to assist in the planning and execution of customer specified special and modified product designs.

Manage the product development team of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers meeting the product specs and timeline commitments on new product launches and commitments to the customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Product Development Team in the development and release of products.


  • Electrical design of new products or modification to existing products.


  • Specify and detail component parts working closely with vendors.


  • Prepare all electrical schematic and system drawings required.


  • Prepare BOM’s.


  • Cost analysis of completed projects as required.


  • Quote the new variable, based products and customization of existing variable, based products.


  • Quoting of UPS, and UL924 Systems.


  • Failure analysis.


  • Work with Purchasing to identify and qualify new vendors.


  • Assist other departments as necessary to solve problems.


  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BSEE or equivalent


  • 5 years of product design experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Understanding of variable transformers, 1 and 3 phase buck boost systems, auto transformers, and isolation transformers is required.


  • Direct experience designing power electronics products (UPS [Uninterruptible Power Supplies], inverter, charger, DC power supply, control boards, transformer, filters) is a plus.
